Oh wait! Did I give away the whole article in the first sentence? Perhaps, but stick around for a minute. I might have some very practical reasons you can relate to on why I feel the way I do about Weebly.
Allow me to start with the fact that I've made multiple websites with both DreamWeaver and Weebly. I bought training DVDs to learn DreamWeaver so I could navigate my way around it, then bumbled my way along till my sites went live. Thank God for those training DVDs because DreamWeaver is not intuitive. Let me emphasize this point: Whatever web design software you're going to use, do you understand it? Does it fit with how you think? Will you need extra training on it? How much will those tutorials cost? Are you willing to go through all of the training to master it?
By contrast, Weebly is intuitive and very easy to master. I didn't need training DVDs to get up to speed with the program. This is significant because:
A) I'm a blonde;
B) I've made a dozen websites for myself and for paying clients using Weebly.
The best web design software is the one that is easy to work with, fits with you and how you think, and offers the features you need. Ponder this scenario...
You or your client has just discovered the business phone number on the home page is wrong. Yikes! Potential customers are calling the wrong number. How long will it take to change that? Will that be an easy edit or do you have to crank up the tutorial video again? Do you need to get to a certain computer where your program is installed?
Weebly is a game changer! It's drag and drop simple and because it's an online program, you don't download anything and can make edits from any computer with an internet connection. You don't have to be on any specific computer.
Other benefits of Weebly:
- Totally FREE website if you want it
- All-in-one solution: domain registration, hosting and web design software at an affordable price.
- Basic (FREE) and Pro (Affordable) accounts available depending on what options you want. I chose to go pro when Weebly offered me a % off after trying it out. If they offer you a discount to go Pro – Take it!
